Can I please go into labor....* small update*
i SAW THERE WAS SOME CONCERN- JUST WANTED TO MENTION THAT MY DRS ARE MONITORING ME/BABY CLOSELY..I had an NST and u/s last tuesday and baby/fluid levels were good ( 41 weeks) then another NST this past friday..baby was happy and healthy doing well...she is still very active and I have another NST and u/s for fluid levels tomorrow (42 weeks) so i'm not worried about baby at all- i know she is fine.
Anyway- so heres my update- last night started having some contx...nothing regular at all- just sorta spuradic..they kept me up most of the night and have continued today...this morning i had some bloody mucus and it has continued so far. This means my cervix is dialating right? I've never had this before except on pitocin so i'm not really sure. The contx are pretty strong when they do come but they are not frequent or regular at all...what does this mean? I've never gone into labor on my own before-lol. ahhh...i'm over 41 weeks right now and i'm incredibly worried that i will have to be induced again. I was induced the last 2 times and it was not fun and i'm trying to do everything i can to avoid it again...but the drs won't let me go past 42 weeks. So If i don't go into labor by tuesday they have me scheduled for an induction on wed may 6th- right at 42 weeks. I've tried everything I can think of..EPO/RRL, we've walked, dtd many times, i've had pinapple, I even attempted the dreaded cator oil and I've used the B&B labor formula that the m/w use. What am I missing??? Is there anything else I can do? I'm desperate to avoid this induction...i'll do anything that will work at this point but nothing is happening besides the normal BH type contractions...no loss of plug, no bloody show...nothing...i'm dialated to a 2-3 ( says dr ) and i've had my membranes swept three times now- i don't even spot or cramp afterwards Ok I guess this is more of a vent but if anyone has any suggestions please help!

Re: Can I please go into labor....
You can have your doc strip your membranes. It will only work if baby is ready, but it threw me into labor. I had my dd 25 hours later.
They insert their finger into your cervix and tease away the amniotic sac from the cervix. There are blood vessels in there and so you will bleed a little bit. It's not comfortable but it's not unbearable either. Good luck mama. I would try it if I were facing an induction for sure. |

Re: Can I please go into labor....
I'd research a little bit into induction for going "over due." From all the natural birthing books I've read, many women naturally have 42 week pregnancies. Unless there is definite indication that the baby is in stress or your body is failing, there is no reason to induce labour. Multiple studies have shown that induction just ends up forcing numerous other medical interventions (pitocin, monitoring, breaking the waters) which all carry risk.
In short, I'd challenge yuor doctor on HAVING to induce your labour. Only go that route if YOu want to.

Re: Can I please go into labor....
Well you can always turn down being induced you know they cant force you to do it , so if baby still hasnt come just say you wanna wait longer.
![]() its your body and your baby , its not gunna hurt you or baby if it stays in there longer... Baby is obv. just not ready. ask your dr to strip your membranes that could throw you into labour. It should work since your already over due. Maybe do a serious house clean like... get down on your hands and knees if you can and scrub floors and bathrooms and things.... that threw my friend into labour ![]() good luck mama

Re: Can I please go into labor....
Have you tried a shot of vodka or tequila? My midwife suggests pairing it with castor oil. It sounds disgusting...but apparently it has worked for other women! Also, try drinking really concentrated RRL tea (like 6 teabags for 8 oz of water). You could also try dancing your baby out! Put on some music and just dance as long as you can!

Re: Can I please go into labor....
I feel for you. I have had 3 "overdue" babies- 8 days, 14 days, and 7 days, respectively. The 14 days over one was induced with pitocin.
But, you really can deny the induction. I wish I had. Call them on Wednesday and say you are feeling very sick and aren't coming in for the induction. I fudged my due date this time by 6 days. Still, I worry he/she won't come by the 42 wk mark. I am using a midwife/birthing center for the first time and she cannot deliver me if I go past 42 wks! I have no advice as far as kick starting labor, b/c the one I had that was only 7 days over gave me ZERO signs before labor started, and the 14 day over one, I had tons of siginificant contractions, and everything indicated I was going to go into full blown labor at any moment, but no dice. Nothing helped make them come faster. I drank castor oil with my last one (the 7 day over one), and he was brn 2-3 days later, but I don't think that means the CO worked. Lol. Good luck, mama.

Re: Can I please go into labor....
Was the pineapple fresh or canned. I have read that it has to be fresh. There are a few other things that you can try. You can make egg shell tea. This is not on the internet as far as I know. My grandma used it with all 11 of her kids and she swears by it. I used it with my dd and it worked. Just boil the shells of a couple of eggs and drain it and drink the water. Do a cup every hour or so. It doesn't really even have a taste to it. Combine that with the fresh pineapple and nipple stimulation. The nipple stimulation has to be consistent though. Start out at 10 to 15 min on one side and then switch to the other. Do this until contractions start and then after every contraction switch sides. I would do this when you have a few hours to yourself so your kids don't think that you are crazy. Lay down with a favorite movie and hope for the best. Just remember that if your body is not ready than nothing will work.
Good luck

Re: Can I please go into labor....
I know a couple mamas that have gone out to eat at the Olive Garden, then went into labor that night or the next day. I think it is the salad dressing that did it. Maybe do that or even get it to go, and ask for some extra dressing, then go home and do some shots of it. Hopefully that will help. I really hope you don't have to be induced.
Oh maybe squat for awhile to help bring baby down, or nipple stimulation. Good luck, hope your baby comes soon w/ no help from pitocin.
