Ideas for meals that puree well
I'm looking for ideas for meals that we will enjoy as adults and are easy to puree into baby food. We love to cook and eat food from around the world, so feel free to suggest foods that are foreign and have strong flavors.
So far I'm thinking: - The various veggies we already eat, those should be easy to puree - Guacamole - Gazpacho (cold mexican tomato soup) - Vichyssoise (cold french leek and potato soup) - Chana masala (indian dish with garbanzo beans) ... I need more than this! The only things I want to avoid are dishes that are very sweet. Spice and fat are fine with me (babe is in the 1% for weight so please, fatten him up!) Background: We have decided to feed our baby basically the same foods we eat, with all the same fats and flavors. For example: we don't eat steamed carrots, we eat carrots sauteed with onions and olive oil, topped with parsley and black pepper. So that's exactly what will be pureed and given to our babe (almost 6 months). We've discussed this with our pediatrician, and while this isn't standard for Americans she has no objection.

Re: Ideas for meals that puree well
Pastas do well for the chunky third stage.
Do you need separate recommendations for each stage? I am going to experiment with a hearty stew today or tomorrow.

Re: Ideas for meals that puree well
I would honestly just offer baby small bites of whatever you are eating and skip the whole making it into a puree. We started doing this around 6-7 months. Started with bits of soup and other foods that DS could easily smush with his gums, and have worked up from there as interest and teeth have allowed. I usually just offer him bites off my plate of whatever I am eating. Sometimes he would eat it, sometimes he would just smush it around in his mouth for a while then spit it back out. It was all about offering tastes and textures, not so much about consuming foods. He has been a super slow teether (no teeth until almost a year, and still not very many teeth), so that has limited some options as he just cannot chew them. But we do let him try if he is interested, and just prepare for it to eventually get spit back out.

Re: Ideas for meals that puree well
My daughter loved pureed taco soup, vegetable ratatouille, apricots with chicken, stews. We basically followed the same approach that you are using and pureed the foods that we prepare for ourselves. I did also puree steamed veggies and fruits individually. I agree with the previous poster about not pureeing pastas due to the texture, but I'm fairly certain that I pureed rice dishes with no texture issues. Hope that helps!

Re: Ideas for meals that puree well
Sorry, just going back to this now. Yes, if you puree it all the way it turns into something that resembles cat food. If you pulse it so some of it is lightly pureed and some is chopped, it just chunks it up so it's good for the chunky third stage.
