My milk dried up around 20 weeks, but I wasn't trying to keep it up, since my nursling is older. He did keep right on nursing, though.

Here is some info on Kellymom. I know there's also a thread around here somewhere on boosting supplements that are safe during pregnancy.

My milk dried up but Conner nursed anyway. He was very happy when my milk came back. I tandem nursed for 1 year. My biggest advice is to set boundries ahead of time with #1 so it's easier when the new one comes and you can enjoy it. It was a great bonding time for them!

If your milk were to dry up for a time, since your LO is so young you want to have a back-up plan. Mine is, (if I get pregnant before he is older) to start pumping while I still have a decent supply (he only nurses one side per feeeding) and store that milk and when my milk dries up (it always does a few months in) to use the pumped milk and an SNS to keep him interested in the breast so that we could continue our relationship . HTH!

Re: Pregnant w/ #4 while nursing #3 (4months old)

More milk two might help.
I am nursing through this pregnancy but DS is already 19 months and eating a lot of solids. With a baby as young as yours, you want to keep a close eye your supply, it might decrease sometime in the 2nd trimester (of course it might not!) but being that your DD is so young there is a chance you might have to supplement if it does decrease. Chances are that even if that happens he will keep nursing for the comfort and you can tandem!
My supply is way down but DS doesn't care, he hasn't slowed down at all.

Ok thanks ladies! I bet it will dwindle around 15-20 weeks like last time. I am planning on pumpin as soon as my SIL gives me my pump back...i also nurse 1 side at a time. If i pump enough i should be able to get thru the "dry" time. When does it normally return?

I cannot drink milk dd and I have issues! LOL makes her uber fussy and me gassy But i heard high in fats foods helps, avoacodos, bacon, butter....and eggs? anything else?

Oatmeal is also an awesome food for your milk supply!

huh! maybe that's why my 4 month old's such a chunker on just breastmilk. everyone's surprised when they see him... I eat a lot of those foods. Maybe nuts, too? and coconut? just because they're other high-fat good-fat foods. (not meaning that i think bacon qualifies in the good fat category.)

i would suppose that the milk would come back with the new baby's birth.
