Re: Favorite dog breed

Mutts for sure! I work at a humane society, and have found that all dogs are individusls (even dogs of the same breed. I believe it's always best to choose a dog based on their personality, which varies from dog to dog.

Re: Favorite dog breed

My favorite dog breads are chihuahua's and Great Danes! Crazy rights? since they are completely different! But I love them both! We only have a Chihuahua right now since my husband is in the military and it is hard to move all the time with a big dog, but we do want a great dane when we settle down some where.

Re: Favorite dog breed

I want a shibu Inu but just because I love how they look and their size. We need to wait until our kids are older because they are a little skittish and not great for young kids.

We have an Australian Shepherd that we adopted almost 3 years ago. He's about 5 years old and the best dog ever! He's pretty much blind (born that way) but he's so sweet and well behaved!

When we move into our own house I want to rescue a Great Dane as well. I had one growing up and she was awesome.

Re: Favorite dog breed

I never had a favorite, or even cared much for dogs really. But in March we adopted a MinPin who was about 8 months old. I adore her. ADORE. She is the little girl I never had, and I told my kids (boys ages 9 and 5) that she's their little sister.

She has a "big dog attitude" but is smaller than our cat. She's waaaay more fun than a cat. She has the cutest bat face w/her big ears (her ears are natural and they stand upright -- adorable). Her tail was docked, which at first I thought was kind of sad but actually I have grown to prefer it -- she doesn't have a tail to whip you with She's always up for playing or a walk, and in the evening she loves to snuggle. I love that she has short, sleek hair -- easy maintenance! And kids just love her because she's so small and so friendly.

Prior to getting Abby, if I had to base it on looks, then my favorite are the tall/slender/sleek dogs like Saluki, Greyhound, Italian greyhound, and Pharoah hound. MinPins don't have quite the same look, but similar (enough).

ETA -- here's a picture of Abby this morning!

Re: Favorite dog breed

I've got a pittie who I love to death! She's so good with kids and amazing with our LO. I was nervous before we brought baby home because she used to be the center of my life, but she adjusted beautifully. Such a loyal, sweet breed (when raised right), I will always have one

Golden Retriever. Ours is the sweetest and is extremely gentle with our niece. Hopefully he'll adjust well to the new baby
