How to stop barking dogs

How do I discourage my new St. Bernard from barking all the time? He wakes the baby and it always frustrates me when that happens. He does it to try to play with the other dogs or be let outside. As soon as I see him at the door, I try to run over and let him out before he barks, but sometimes I'm too late.

If he is barking at something outside, teaching him a good "leave it" will help (leave it means walk away from whatever you're asking him to leave).
There are lots of videos on YouTube if you can't take him to a class. Search for clicker training/Karen Pryor and barking

You are rewarding him by letting him out. It won't stop him from barking, he is getting what he wants.

If you can walk away to another room every time he does that, he will learn eventually that when he does that, you ignore him. And only come back when he stop barking.

Another thing you can do is whenever he does that, try to distract him with something else he likes such as a favorite treat. But do this away from the door, maybe even in a different room. This way, he may change his behavior and start asking for treat instead of barking and wanting to go outside.

Whichever way you try, you need to be consistent and firm. But never punish him. Walking to another room is punishment enough.

We used this spray when we were fostering dogs. It works great. I only had to actually spray it 1-3 times before I just had to hold up the can and they'd stop barking. I agree with not letting him be 'rewarded' with going out when he barks. That's reinforcing the behavior. Only let him out once he is quiet and sitting calmly.

Everything depends on how you trained it. It will be hard to chanhe the behaviour now

Put him in his own room and let him go nuts on one. If he starts barking again, put in another bone. Ok it's not something you want him to grow expectations about but I assume you aren't partying every night.
