Does printed PUL always leak?

OK, I know that statement is a bit absolute, but this seems to be the case sooner or later. Just wondering if anyone has had better luck than I have.

Re: Does printed PUL always leak?

I've found it to always wick if there's a really heavy pee. I don't use the printed ones too much. If you can get polyester prints(fuzzy fannies)those don't ever wick or leak.

I stay far away from printed PUL for us its ALWAYS LEAKS!!

Its sad cuz I always love the looks of prints but they just leak and leak...however I have heard you can spray waterproofing on it and it wont leak but I havent tried that yet....its just easier to stick to solid PUL...i dont know why that doesn't leak?? It just never does??

It depends. Not all printed PUL is created equal. Whatever type it is that Fuzzi Bunz uses, for example, is just as reliable in my experience. I recently got a print that is of the same quality as FB prints in my Mommy's Touch prints. As a general rule, I do not trust PUL prints, but there are some that are just as good. I do know that those that FB uses fall into a different category, and unfortunately I cannot say knowledgeably what that is.

The only printed PUL diapers I've had are Fuzzi Bunz, and we haven't had any leaks with them.

Re: Does printed PUL always leak?

The reason alot of printed PUL leaks is because it is a cotton woven fabric on the outside that has been laminated. So the cotton on the top will wik moisture from inside the diaper.

The solid color PUL and the prints that fuzzi bunz has are all polyster knit on the outside and polyster doesnt absorb like cotton.

OK, so the polyester would work then. I never thought about that.

As for the waterproofing spray--besides the fact that the stuff reeks, it doesn't last very long. What is the point of a cover that has to be waterproofed every couple of washes?

So, do most stores and such SAY whether or not their printed PUL is polyester?

Yep, you need polyester prints. It's all I use in my dipes because I just hate leaks.

Re: Does printed PUL always leak?

Yep, but it's a poly print (not cotton); we've not had any leaks with BSWW, either. But like the printed (laminated cotton) HH? ALWAYS leaky for us.
