Need info on Cleveland, Ohio

Dh has a job opportunity in Cleveland and I am trying to get more info on the place and I know nothing about it so tell me everything. We have been looking at houses online but it is so hard not knowing neighborhoods. We have 4 kids ages 13 - 7 months and 2 dogs. We also are going to homeschool the kids there. So what are good middle class neighborhoods and what are some great things for kids to do there?

Re: Need info on Cleveland, Ohio

Where in Cleveland is the job - east side, west side or downtown? Commutes that dont need to cross from one side of town to the other are much easier. I'm not as familiar with east side neighborhoods but on the west side, I have several friends that match your description some and they live in Avon. Avon is more like your classic suburb with many nice family friendly cul-de-sac type housing developments. Good shopping nearby, and the usual stuff (library, community groups, etc.) If you want more city-like walkability, look at Lakewood, where there a many parks, shopping, and the library within walking distance. Also they have a lot of great activities offered year-round where they shut down traffic through the center of town and have neighborhood events for all ages.

Re: Need info on Cleveland, Ohio

Ok - that's pretty much straight south of Cleveland by about 20 minutes. Brecksville/Broadview Heights itself is a pretty nice place to live. The have a great community center I hear. Strongsville isnt too far away (about 20 minutes) either and has a lot of great developments or wide open spaces to choose from. Strongsville has a very large and nice shopping center and mall off of Royalton Rd (Rte 82) and I77. And both communities have access to very good portions of the park system (Emerald Necklace).

From what I know of them, they seem to be decent places to live. Im not aware of any specific negatives or positives. Although in Twinsburg, they host the annual Twins Day Festival - the largest annual gathering of twins (& other multiples) in the world. But I am not familiar with either place enough to say what area is better than another to pick a home. Good Luck!

I am in the Cleveland area. Brecksville is - beautiful area, but higher priced homes and very high taxes. Aurora/Twinsburg is a very family friendly area. Still close enough to Cleveland to hit up the kid stuff and also not far from Akron area kid stuff. I know you are homeschooling, but the cities in that area have great schools so it draws in a lot of families with kids and most neighborhoods/developments are kid friendly. I have family in Aurora and they love it there...in fact all of my cousins still live at home there! We just sold our house on the west side and put an offer on a house in Macedonia (fingers crossed) which borders twinsburg so I like enough there to head that way. Feel free to pm of you have questions as I'm not really on ds much at all! Good luck with your move!

Not sure about Twinsburg, but Aurora has pretty much everything...not sure about Walmart but target for sure. Aurora also has outlets with everything you could want as far as kid stuff...Carter's, children's place, gumbo, Oshkosh, stride rite, crocs. It's nice there.
