we need a good screaming smilie!!! I'm all out of ideas of what to do about dd! she's two and for some reason refuses to sleep at night, she just wants to play. She's tired and needs to sleep, but just doesn't want to. so for almost a week now I"ve been up every night only getting about 4 hours of sleep a night! I'm going in tuesday to have a baby and I so despritely need some rest before then, but she just isn't letting me get any. She just got over a really bad flu about a month ago and is going through a cold now thats lasted about two weeks, I've got her in to see her PED on monday, but as for the rest of the weekend I don't know how to get her to sleep! She's crabby all day cause she's tired, but just doesn't sleep. She's got a pretty bad cough, but I don't want to be giving her cough syrup too much as you're only supposed to use it for 3-5? days? and she's on two weeks of this cold. is there anything I can give her thats ment just for coughs? that seems to be all thats left of this cold and hopefully will help her sleep right through the night? thanks! she's on her like 4th giant tantrum of the day right now cause she's tired, I think I"m gonna go crazy if she doesn't stop this before the baby comes? uughh

Hi Mama,
Things will get better. She cant stay awake forever. Can she? When Dakota was born, my 6 yr old, who up to this point had potty learned with ease, and slept all night for what seemed like forever, all the sudden started waking up 3-4 times a night. He told me that he just wasnt sleepy. Ok... well, mama was... so... I made sure there wasnt nothing he could hurt himself with in his room, turned on his lamp... put a baby gate in the door way.. and left him to play. After a few nights of this, he returned to sleeping through the night.

Im not telling you to do that w/a two yr old, but its what worked for me. If you do that, just make sure everything in her room is safe, and maybe use a baby monitor so you could hear her.
