Re: The great binky dillema

DS was really weird. He never wanted the binky really except to chew on it occasionally, then while we were all on vacation last March (he was 13 months) I brought one along figuring it would occupy him on the plane, and within 2 days he had suddenly figured out (finally) actually WHAT to do with it lol. Then he was a binky fanatic for a few months, but now we are down to naps/nighttime mostly and I bring one when we go out as a "just in case" item.

I'm not planning on taking it away. If he wants it, I let him have it. He doesn't abuse it. LOL. And I think he will just eventually give it up on his own.

Re: The great binky dillema

My daughter is going to be 3 in 2 weeks and she still has her "bucky." She is only allowed a bucky when she's in her bed(or her recent ER visit) and when I ask her to put it back in her bed when she wakes up about 95% of the time she replies with, "yeah I put my bucky in bed because I'm not sleeping." So that's been a positive step. I"m encouraging her to give it up using a "don't ask, don't offer" method but she still asks all the time for it. We are waiting until after the baby comes(8 more weeks) to really restrict it big time. I wanted it gone by age 2 but it never happened and then it just never seemed the right time. We will get rid of it once she won't associate it with her new baby sister.

Mary is 11 mo, and I'm already ready for it to go! But, its nice to be able to comfort her with it sometimes, too...and I don't want her to discover that thumb!!
