Re: What to register for?!

We just made our registry for #3, you really don't need much. Car seat, rocker/vibrating chair/bouncer thing, medela manual pump and extra bottles/storage(i SAH, if I worked I'd get the motor one), joovy scooter stroller (need to check this one out IRL, Keekaroo high chair (after the horror of plastic chairs and inability to truely clean every crevice, I'm on to wood). Aden and anais blankets are wonderful, and some sort of jumperoo/exersaucer was always a fav around here.
On my baby carrier list is a Ergo and a baby k'tan, maybe a Moby if I can find a deal.
And cloth diapers

Oh and if you are a FTM, check out kimono style shirts, they are so much easier to put on and take off a newborn when you are not fully comfortable with one <3

Rocker, high chair, stroller, car seats maybe. I would go all out diapers& wipes depending on how u go on diapers. If cing list pails & like u want..... first go all out & think of older things too...boppy & swing & anything really.....

Re: What to register for?!

Babies need way less than most people think. Most baby items we get are convenience items, and will vary wildly on your parenting style. If you're a co-sleeping family, a crib and it's accoutrements would be a waste of time. If you're a SAHM who breastfeeds, a pump, bottle and sterilizer would be a complete waste of cash. Even one baby to another can be completely different.

Your baby will need a place to sleep, food, clothes and diapers, and a car seat if you plan on bringing baby into the car. How you do those things is going to be up to how you plan to parent.

If I was pregnant again after getting rid of all my baby stuff, I'd buy/register for:
Sleep:
A crib that becomes a toddler bed (got mine at ikea)
3-4 fitted crib sheets
3-4 thin crib blankets (I know these are a nono, but I use blankets anyway)
mesh bumpers
2 small swaddlers (I used swaddlemes, but I like the look of the halo swaddle sacks)
A musical crib soother - both my girls loved them.

Food:
My brest friend nursing pillow with extra cover
milkies milk saver
nipple cream
booby tubes
single electric pump with some pump bottles
some breastmilk storage bags
A couple newborn pacis
5-6 nursing tanks
breastpads - either some good bamboo PUL backed ones or disposables - I leak like mad those first few months, cloth ones simply don't hold me.
12 bibs
Fisher Price healthy care high chair
baby spoons

Clothes:
about 10 outfits and 10 sleepers in appropriate weight for the season in both newborn and 0-3 months. Might get a few in 3-6 months, but would hold off buying too much further ahead until I've met baby and know how she grows. I've had babies on the opposite ends of the growth spectrum, so I wouldn't get too carried away.
Dresser
plastic hamper, not cloth, unless the hamper could come apart to be washed
small hangers
2-3 pairs of soft soled shoes
seasonally appropriate outerwear

Diapers:
36 newborn prefolds, 2 snappies and 3-4 covers
30 OS pockets
Some good cloth friendly diaper cream
Change table
Change pad
2 change pad covers
2 hanging pails
baskets to hold diapers on change table
2 small wetbags for the diaper bag

Travel:
Stroller and car seat combo - I've poopooed this, but it is really quite handy
mei tai or SSC
backpack diaper bag (I walk a lot, and it may look funny, but it's very convenient to have baby on the front, diaper bag on the back and hands free for the other child)
babe covee - http://www.babeecovee.com/proddetail.php?prod=bc-pink love this thing!

Bath:
a few wash cloths, and some chemical free baby wash. I bring baby into the tub or shower with me.

Entertainment:
Swing
Jumperoo
some simple rattles and teething toys

Oh, BOOB PADS! I had totally forgotten about needing those!!! Thank you for reminding me that I will most certainly need some and this is a spectacular recommendation for your registry too, OP!

For us, the necessaries are:

Car seat
Ergo
Some clothes-in sizes up to about 9-12 months
Diapers
Tub of some kind for baths (we did a lot showers with us, but still nice to have for those first weeks)
Not necessary, but we like baby towels because they take up so much less space in the laundry
Baby gym
Infant Tylenol or similar-easier to have on hand than run out if you need it
Sleep sack
Bobby
Bottles and pump
Love the glider
A few extra sheets for the crib
Use the bouncer chair quite a bit

With most of the gear type stuff, I'd register, but wouldn't buy it right away if I didn't get it. I would keep an eye out for that stuff used-less than half price.

I saw that... I have a bulb that comes apart for easy cleaning, and the tip is clear so you can see inside. It's Safety 1st brand, really like it.

Re: What to register for?!

I have 3 kids under 5 and we got the most use out of the bouncer, jumperoo, Boppy and Bumbo.
