Re: "You sure have your hands full"

YES, it drives me nuts. When DD was a bit younger, I'd go out with just her, and hear "she's so cute" etc. If I went out with DD, and my 2 DS's, I'd hear "Wow, your hands are full!" or "You are busy, huh?" Stuff like that. It would drive me nuts.

must be three as the magic number. I hear it ALL the time when I am out with mine. Some guy said to me the other day, "do you have 5 kids?" I said, "no I have three, but it's more like 4 because my DS is such a busy guy he counts like 2 kids" and then I just laughed. He wasn't sure what to think. lol

Re: "You sure have your hands full"

Are you surprised to hear that people tell me that with just 2 kids? Of course when my 2 year old is in the room, you would swear there were 10 little boys bouncing around. Maybe it has more to do with balancing a baby as I chase after him?

I am not bothered by people saying that. I think it is just their way of saying "hello, your kids look cute, healthy, active etc. " I have had some great conversation start by someone making that comment to me.

Once I answered a woman "that I wouldn't have it any other way" and she told me she had six children but she had outlived 3 of them. She said the baby period is so challenging but that it was her favorite period of her life. I didn't ask for details about her deceased children other than expressing my condolences. It did just make me appreciate the moment, and to stop being frustrated at the long line we were waiting in.

It doesn't really bother me when people say that to me. I've just taken to saying "Full hands and a full heart." Even the cranky people always seem to smile at that.

Re: "You sure have your hands full"

People say this to me when I only have my three little ones with me....I LOVE to come right back at 'em with "this is only HALF of them!!!", and then tell them I wouldn't have it any other way!

Besides, having your hands full is one of the best ways to keep you out of trouble! LOL

I would be SO rich if I got a $ for every time someone said that to me. I think it's only annoying because it's so predictable...it's the comment of choice. Better than "I feel sorry for you!" which I've had before.

I get that comment with one while walking the dogs. I just smile. It isn't intended to hurt anyone's feelings, so I don't see the point in looking too far into it.
