I know this thread is super old, but just have to say you don't need to lanolize wool. Use enough cotton in the diaper to absorb what you need to, and the unlanolized wool will provide a protective layer even without lanolin. I personally haven't lanolized my kids' wool for a long time. Used it with flats, went in the car and everywhere else and never had a problem. You can't expect to keep the child in the same diaper for 4 hours riding in the car and not leak, but otherwise it works fine.
