Mini Pill?

DD is 9 weeks old, I BF but supplement after nursing her. When my midwife gave me the mini I was EBFing. Is it still as effective with supplementing?

Re: Mini Pill?

Never heard of a mini pill. But I would say no since exclusively Breastfeeding with no bottles isn't even 100%. Add bottles in there and your chances greatly increase of ovulating.

Re: Mini Pill?

I've learned not to trust the mini pill as 3 different friends of mine got pregnant on it. I don't know what the effects are with supplementing but I think it's for EBF babies. Once your supple goes down it might not be as effective. Call you OB office and ask.

Re: Mini Pill?

I got pregnant on the mini pill. When I was talking to my Dr. after dd was born, he said that once milk is established, he just prescribes the regular bc pill because the mini-pill is SO ineffective, even among EBF moms. I'd switch ASAP if you want to avoid a pregnancy.

Oh my goodness i have never heard this. Going on 9 months of mini pill and BFing. Baby gets bottles at daycare. She was EBF for 8 months and now eats some solids but still nurses 5 times or more a day and I pump once at work.

No period yet.

Re: Mini Pill?

I've been on the mini for almost a year, baby is now weened so I will be moving off it at the end of the month. Have been told that is works for some people even if you aren't BF any more. I just know I got pregnant with my youngest when my daughter was 6 mo old and EBF and that I am not pregnant now that my 13 mo old is weened.
