as much as I LOVED CS with DD, now almost 3, its really getting to be a crowd... when DS was born there was literally NO room in the actual bed for him, so he sleeps in the playpen in our room, so congrats! I know how much better you'll sleep w/out being awakened by the little movements

Re: I got my dd to fall asleep in her crib!!!

I don't know if i will get to see this day any time soon. Hi my name is Dawn and new hear...haven't posted in the intro section yet, but Olivia was born Feb 12 and we don't even sleep in our bedroom. We CS on the sectional couch and DH is on the other end. My body kills getting up now...not sure if it is from CSing on the couch where I spent the last month of my pregnancy or if I am just getting old...anyway...congrats cause we just HAVE a crib...never even attempted to have her sleep in it. The only way I can get DD to sleep is nurse her lying down on the couch so I can get up without moving her or just nurse on a boppy and do my computer work as she sleeps on my lap.
WEEKS ago I tried nursing her in her room and put her on the floor on flat out blankets and one little creeky noise I made woke her up...we did have some success, but I gave up.

I CAN'T bare to hear her cry...if I am driving and she isn't happy and cries...it KILLS me until I either get home or pull over and nurse her.

We have been CS but, DH tends to toss and turn all night and then will wake her up. Not to mention that i am just getting soooo exausted! She was only sleeping in her swing, but we have gotten to where we will only let her sleep in there during her morning nap, she usualy jsut has to be held. I hate to hear dd crying too, but i figure that it will be alot easier for her to cry now, then leter. I CS w/ my parents untill i was about 9 or so, and it was tramatic for me to start sleeping alone. So i want her to start doing it now. I will say that i had to do it while dh was out of the house, because he will always go running and go pick her up. ( i can't blame him )

CONGRATS on getting her to sleep in her crib. I know how exciting that can be.

I never CS, just not my thing. I read this book called Secrets of the Baby whisperer. It was the best book ever! I had DS sleeping through the night at 6 weeks and he sleeps 12 hours. I did all of that without too much crying (used caming techniques so crying was really minimal!) I would recomend it to anyone! great book!

Re: I got my dd to fall asleep in her crib!!!

Thanks for posting this, it gives me hope. My dd is 9 months old and we cs but I'm thinking about getting a crib. I think she would sleep better. DH is a restaurant mgr and some nights gets home at 2 or 3am and if dd wakes up to nurse and sees him she wants to play!

Re: I got my dd to fall asleep in her crib!!!

My DS is just now falling asleep by himself. When he was 10 or 11 months old we did go from CS to the crib, but while we did some CIO (which helped greatly with his midnight wakings) we still would end up rocking him to sleep or letting him fall asleep with us, then placing him in the crib. He just now (night before last) has started going to sleep by himself, no rocking needed. He just told me he was "done rockin" and wanted "in the crim". I put him in and he told me "mama get out". I was like "what?!" . But I left and he seemed to go to sleep well without me. Its so nice not having to rock a 27lb child tho, let me tell you!
