Need advice on Indiana and Michigan City Indiana
My husband has a job interview this Friday for a job that sounds very promising, but I want to make sure the area is going to work for us as we would be relocating 6 hours from another state if he indeed gets the job. So I want to do my research as this will be a major part of our decision on him taking it if offered to him.
Are their cyber schooling options in Indiana? I have researched this but some people are saying that Indiana does not allow home schooling and other say that you can home school traditionally or cyber school through Connections Academy. Any thoughts or experience with this? We currently home school through a cyber charter school and wish to remain that way if possible. Are there certain areas in Michigan City to stay away from? We initially would love to live in farming areas as we have 6 children but need to be close to Michigan City for my husband to get to work, any suggestions on towns? What is cost of living like in Indiana? Taxes etc. Any advice would be helpful.

Just saw this! I live in Nwi, I suggest living in a smaller town near Michigan city if he gets the job. Cost of living isn't bad and laporte county taxes are actually pretty descent. If you still need advice, pm me

Re: Need advice on Indiana and Michigan City Indiana
for a lot of great stats on the region, check out:
http://www.stats.indiana.edu/ Home schooling is allowed. A lot of the online schoolers around southern indiana use k12 (www.k12.com) A lot of people we know use their own curriculum or follow other courses. I don't know much about the area you are looking at, but if I can help in anyway, feel free to let me know. Good luck on the interview! |

Re: Need advice on Indiana and Michigan City Indiana
Born and raised in Indiana. My brother in law is homeschooled thru the connections thing. And my best friend lives and works for LaPorte. She and her parents relocated there just after we graduated high school and she likes it. But she loves the lake and the snow so it's perfect for her!!

Re: Need advice on Indiana and Michigan City Indiana
You can homeschool no problem in Indiana. YOu can choose whatever curriculum you want. online or not, if your kids are old enough they are even alllowed to participate in sports (mostly through the christian schools). Only need to keep recods of 180 days of school attendance. that is the only thing they can ask you.
