Anyone have a clamper?

DS3 loves to clamp down while he's feeding. He's been doing this for awhile now but seeing as he's 4 1/2months old I'm tired of it lol. It hurts and I can only imagine if he had teeth.

DS1 only bit me once and stopping the feed and telling him no worked.

DS2 would occasionally bite and is very strong willed. But it was infrequent enough that it didn't become a big problem.

DS3 clamps down at least once with about every time he nurses.

I was just reminded how frustrating it's been since he just did it again and when I pulled him off he chuckled.

My lo tends to clamp sometimes. I think she's trying to slow the milk down.

Re: Anyone have a clamper?

My kid likes to clamp and pull when she's done or if she wants to turn her head, which is all the time since she is now 5 months and interested in everything. When she does it is cut her off and tell her "Ouch. Hurt." Then I give her another chance in 5 minutes or so. She's been being a little more careful.

He's thankfully been much better at it. He seemed to do it for all kinds of reasons.

Now he's bottom two teeth have pushed through so I'm waiting for when he decides to bite. He hasn't yet but they popped through yesterday so I know it's just a matter of time.

Re: Anyone have a clamper?

You know how to get him off, right? Pinky finger into the side of the mouth, break seal... Personally, I would put babe on the floor for a minute. Same thing I did with biting. They don't get to do this and then get more milk. I don't yell, cry, scold, or talk to babe--that can be fascinating and encourage the behavior. I just unlatch and set them down. A couple times and babe should figure out it's a bad idea. Hopefully you can avoid the biting scenario. Nip this in the bud early!

Mine is doing this now, at 4 weeks. 😬. Too young to train her to stop but when she gets older I'll pop her off if she clamps.
