Re: Cereal? Do I have to?

No you don't have to, and 3 months is way too early anyways. I didn't do cereal with my oldest and am not going to with my second either. Cereal is something to get them ready for baby food, but we BLW, so no need for cereal. Cereal also doesn't make a baby STTN, like a lot think. Go with your instincts and don't worry about what your friends think or say, you're her momma and you know best

No! Don't do it! WAY to early. Just do way you know is right, and ignore what they all have to say!!

This can be true, but we delayed cord clamping with our daughter and that helps to keep their iron stores up for the first year. The iron that is put into fortified food is not nearly as well absorbed as the iron in breastmilk.

Re: Cereal? Do I have to?

Cereal is definitely NOT necessary! My dd (now 12mths) has never had any cereal, nor has she ever had any kind of special "baby" food. Around 7 mths I began offering her suitable table foods but even then she really didn't start eating much solids until 11mths. She just eats whatever we are having, if necessary I just cut it up into small pieces for her to manage. For some reason everyone thinks babies just have to have cereal! To me that would be like someone telling me I have to eat a bowl of cereal for breakfast every morning! There are other options! There are many studies that in fact suggest that cereal at that young of an age can be very harmful! Check out www.kellymom.com for some helpful articles on feeding babies.
