Re: EBF length?

I tried to get ds to sample some solids at 7 months, but he wasn't having it. I don't think he really started eating any solids until after a year. He just wasn't intersted, and preferred bm.

Yep, same with my daughter. Wasn't interested in anything but breastmilk until around 13ish months.

Re: EBF length?

My mom didn't start food with my sister and I until after 9 months.

I started DS on whole foods ( avocado, bananas etc) at 6 months. He never had rice cereal and only had apple sauce as a puree.

anything you can think of, they can try, and by 10 months they can do lots of finger sized bits of those foods.

Here is a link to why not to do iron fortified foods.

Do you have anything I can find in a peer review journal? I'm trying to get info to my pediatrician and I don't think this will cut it due to the lack of cited sources. I tried to find some stuff but so far I've been unsuccessful finding any support past 6 months.

Re: EBF length?

well here is the deal, your Ped doesn't live with you and you don't work for him...So who cares what he thinks, just listen to his advice, smile and agree and then do what you want with YOUR baby. When you go back at 9 monhts, and he asks what baby is eating, by then he may be eating solids and you cna tell him and if not, you can say oh we are doing a bit of this and a bit of that, he is doing great...thanks

Remember you are the mom.

Re: EBF length?

I agree, just because your pedi tells you do vitamin drops or whatever, you don't have to listen. Mine gave me a script for both of my girls, but I never filled it and they've NEVER had any type of vitamin or mineral deficiency, although now my 5 year old is slightly anemic, so she's been taking regular flintstones with me -I take these instead of prenatals- to help her iron intake a bit.

As far as when I introduced solids.. 3 months with both of my girls but I didn't introduce juice until they were 8 months, and a little older for water.

We don't do juice until well after a year and then watered down, there is so much sugar in juice.
