Re: Nighttime nursing?

I would move my DS from side to side and now for some reason with my DD I am staying put and just rolling in for the "top" breast and laying straight on my side for the "bottom" breast My kids never really woke-up

This mostly, but I sometimes pull her up over me and switch sides as she's a pretty sweaty sleeper and she gets annoyed when the sheet beneath her gets damp, lol She usually goes right back to sleep as soon as she latches on again

I lift DS up, scooch over a little & roll myself over. He's almost 16 pounds now - I imagine that technique will get harder as he gets heavier!

Another suggestion for the uneven boobs - try "block nursing" where you start on the small side for every feeding for 3-4 hours (or more) during the day. This will balance out all the attention the larger side is getting at night, and you won't have to change your nighttime nursing.

I roll her ontop, scoot over, and put her on the new side. Keeps us closer to the center of the bed. She barely stirs and goes right back out. Sometimes she's already awake, searching for a nipple. We do not change everytime, but at least once in the night.

Re: Nighttime nursing?

I have twins! No need to switch! When they were tiny though and only slept on one side of me (because DH was nervous about rolling on them when they were so small), I nursed them both on one side during the night. I never had real problems by doing it that way.

Re: Nighttime nursing?

I've tried the leaning for the breast on top thing and I always end up not going back to sleep that way because I am sort of holding myself up and my back always ends up cramping before he's done. I know with my others I just learned to deal with it but maybe I've become lazy with my fourth. I usually do end up doing the roll and scoot thing too, but sometimes I am so tired that I just don't even bother switching.
