still need insurance help...:)

I read everyone's posts, but am still a little lost. As far as pregnancy not counting as a pre-exsisting condition if you don't let your insurance lapse...Do you have to get the same type of insurance. Should I just call an insurance company. Also, as far as medicaid...I am not sure we will qualify now. We just sold our condo a few days ago and made like 60,000 dollars off of it. Of course, we will now have to live off of that for the next few years because my husband will be in school and we will (god willing) have a couple kids. We will also have to put some of it into a down payment if we decide to buy a place in Arkansas. Therefore, we probably wouldn't qualify for medicaid would we even though we have only about 11,000 per year in income right now? ALSO, I have looked into maternity card (anyone heard of that) and a couple other things like ameriplan. Does anyone have any experience with these things? Sorry...a million questions...I would love any advice you can give. THANKS!!!!!!

Try the AIM program. I don't know if your state has this, but you should definately contact the California office and ask. I was told with dd#2 that Preggo was a pre-existing condition and I was only 5 weeks along so Kaiser wouldn't take me. I was then referred to this. This is for families with moderate income that don't qualify for Medical. Here is the breakdown for income:
AIM Income Guidelines
Effective April 1, 2006 through March 31, 2007

Family Size Household Income
(after income deductions)
Monthly household income
is between: Total Cost of Health Coverage
2* $2,201 to $3,300 $396 to $594
3 $2,768 to $4,150 $498 to $747
4 $3,335 to $5,000 $600 to $900
5 $3,901 to $5,850 $702 to $1,053
6 $4,468 to $6,700 $804 to $1,206
7 $5,035 to $7,550 $906 to $1,359

I really hope that this helps.

Sorry! I think I replied to your questions in your other post regarding if you could switch types of plans and all that. Hopefully it'll help. I think my SIL had AIM with her last pregnancy and she could probably be helpful with that stuff. I'll PM her and tell her to let you know......she's ChurchPunkMom.

Yup, I had AIM during my last pg. Are you in AK now? Look into other state programs like that.. It only cost us about $1100 for a year of coverage - it was our back-up since I had a homebirth.
Wife to 1 Mama to.. too many to list!
