Washing prefolds: washer but no dryer

I'm new to cloth diapers and live in a small apartment with no washer/dryer hookups (or space!!!). In the long run am planning to wash my prefolds with a small portable washer at home (the kind that plugs into a wall socket) and then line-dry.
In prepping my diapers, the first few washes I took the diapers to a laundromat so I could use a dryer. But now I'm line drying and they just aren't fluffing up quite like I hoped. Is a dryer necessary for the fluffiness? Will the diapers just not get that quilty quality if I'm line drying? Or do I just need some patience?
Thanks, oh experienced mamas out there!
I have some used diapers that I bought here and they are gorgeously quilty!
