Haven't been on it while pregnant but I was on Zoloft in high school and stopped cold turkey.

Re: Pregnant and on antidepressants

I've heard Zoloft is not safe for pregnant women or children. Zoloft can sometimes cause serious birth defects when taken during pregnancy, as well as withdrawal symptoms in the baby following birth.Pleas exercise caution..

Call your doctor!! They will help over the phone or get you in sooner. (Call the doctor that prescribed you the Zoloft).

Re: Pregnant and on antidepressants

Call your prescribing doctor and schedule an appointment to discuss your concerns. Do not take yourself off the meds.

Zoloft is well tolerated in pregnancy. I drove to Atlanta and consulted with a doctor at Emory when we were TTC. There was no mention of any concern of birth defects as a result of taking sertraline. There is one study with serious methodological problems that found a correlation with autism and sertraline. There is an increased chance of baby needing supplementary oxygen immediately after birth. This increase is almost eliminated by tapering off in the third trimester.

You are on this medicine for a reason. Mental health is health. No diabetic would discontinue medication without consulting a doctor. If your insurance has a mental health benefits, consider exercising them. Pregnancy can be a roller coaster, and I benefited greatly from talking to my therapist.

Also, there is a strong "purity bias" that takes hold when you are pregnant, especially if you are the sort of person who would be interested in cloth diapers. Try not to let the idea of restricting yourself "for the baby" become an obsession. A great many of the "don'ts" are not supported by good science.

I was on 200 mg of Zoloft throughout my pregnancy and while breastfeeding. Feel free to PM me if you want more info about my personal experience.

Re: Pregnant and on antidepressants

Zoloft is the safest anti depressant to use during pregnancy. I'm on my second pregnancy with it.

You know what's REALLY bad for baby? All the hormones that come when a depressed mama goes untreated. This is NOT the time to be messing with your treatment plan.

You are fine. I am pregnant with #3 and I have been on zoloft for years. I have 2 beautiful and healthy boys. I am scary when I try and go off of mine... my midwife told me to take it through my childbearing years. Please don't stop taking an important medication!

From what I have seen, some antidepressants are safe while pregnant but if you take them while breast feeding they can give the baby diarrhea.

Re: Pregnant and on antidepressants

I recommend that you take a look at Online pharmacy ca, and I think you will be able to find some good pills for you there. I have been using that service for some time, and I really like it a lot!
