Re: Stressed About Pumping Between Classes

I pumped in my car for a while. Now I'm not at school long enough. I also had a really awesome teacher who let me use her office a few times. Though she was in there at the same time, it was better than using the bathroom.

But, on the plus side, seeing mommas work so hard to lug around a huge breastpump and use the bathroom might spark a few convos and encourage other mommas to go the extra mile to breastfeed.

Re: Stressed About Pumping Between Classes

I was a nursing NURSING student. I pumped in an office (the student government office), in the nursing lab (behind a privacy curtain...often talking through it to other people ), in facutly offices, and in a supply closet (in clinicals at the hospital...a whole ROOM really, not a closet). If they have a key-only handicapped restroom, that may be an issue. Ask around. See what you can find. Often start/stop times of classes are staggered in schools like that so profs CAN successfuly share offices, so one of yours may be able to spare 15 minutes to let you use his/hers.

It gets easier once you establish a routine. Make sure you're drinking plenty of water during your class day.
I pumped AND nursed in front of my entire class. We did a maternal/child rotation, and the guys in the class didnt' get to see much (as the moms would kick them out) so to teach them how to use a breast pump and about nursing positions, I was the "demo."
