Arm & Hammer detergent..

Does anyone use Arm & Hammer detergent to wash their diapers in? Is it okay to use it for washing diapers? On the bottle it says it has baking soda and water softner in it, but it also has some kind of scent and coloring. I like the idea of the baking soda and water softner (I have well water). Anyone have any input?

Re: Arm & Hammer detergent..

I have and it worked okay for me. I tried the liquid and the powder. The powder though has enzymes which can bother some babies. Mine did fine with either though.

Enzymes are bad cuz they reactivate when your child pees on the cloth and they start "eating" (working to fight the stain) at your babies skin. My ds's pee pee got a major sore on the opening (pee hole...LOL) and he complained a lot and made it hard for him to pee. Had to strip the dipes and boil the inserts to get all of the soap off. (Era was what I was using at first)

Enzymes are there to eat away the stains. Anything marked stain fighter or brightner are bad for babies skin and for your dipes (causes build up).

This is a great link to what soaps are good on what type of diapers. Very easy to understand and it tells you if the products have enzymes, brightners, scents, etc in them.
