When to begin?

At what age did you begin an actual curriculum? I know up until a certain age it's just a learning through life type deal. Did you have certain activities you did with your younger ones to help them learn basics like letters, numbers, etc...? I have quite a while before worrying about all this but I like to have a plan

Re: When to begin?

We started at 3 with DD1 with Sonlight. While it's an actual curriculum, at this age it's just TONS of stories and a few little games. We love it. We read their stuff to her each night before bed and play the games (think memory game type stuff) whenever she wants. We aren't strict with it and we all enjoy it. Our 1 year old usually sits down with us and listens to the stories as well.

Re: When to begin?

We started DS with MFW k a little before he turned six. His little sister tagged along though, so she started at 4.5. It's a pretty relaxed program and doesn't take very long per day.

Re: When to begin?

We didn't start an actual program (T4L) until ds was in kindergarten. Before then it was mostly play based with lots of reading, crafts, and some worksheets/ workbooks.

Re: When to begin?

You actually never need to start a curriculum, unschooling is awesome and works for all ages

But, Five in a Row or before five in a row are great gentle early curriculums.
