question about life of fred for elementary

from what I understand there are 11 books that cover K-4th and they each take a month or so to finish, so...

what do you do after your child has completed 1 or 2 books, but isn't ready for the next ones but it's only a couple of months into the school year?

I've read that this is a really inexpensive curriculum, but at $16 a book if they only cover about a month, that seems pretty expensive to me. am I missing something?

these look so cool, but do you supplement w/something else too?

We have LOF and Singapore. I like LOF a lot but I think it would be difficult not to supplement with more practice. I have a friend that does LOF once a week and still follows another full math curriculum. I'm not as consistent with it, weeks will go by and I forget to grab it. I want the kids to see the application side of math that LOF offers but I don't feel like it's enough practice all on its own.

My understanding is that the titles are meant to be repeated if used as a curriculum. I think more often than not it's used as a supplement to another curriculum.
