Mama Cloth and Cup help....

I am nearly 3 weeks postpartum and wanting to make the switch to mama cloth....I'm breastfeeding so probably have some time to do some research but I want to know what are your favorite brands and how many do I need?

I also had no idea there were so many different kinds of menstrual cups out there?! My midwife told me to try one, says they are awesome....which one do you ladies recommend or do you have suggestions on how to choose?

Thanks!

I like the Lunette cup. Many people end up cutting down the stem on any cup to help with comfort. I can also use the diva cup. Haven't tried any others.

I had a Luna cup that was nice. It does take some adjustment, and getting it in comfortably can be difficult at first, but once it was in it was great. I have recently moved however and can't find it, so I guess I'll be getting another one! Or trying a different brand.

How often do you have to get a new one?

Re: Mama Cloth and Cup help....

I just received my first cup and order of mama cloth. I chose the Blossom cup because it seemed pretty middle-of-the-road in terms of firmness (some cups are softer, some are firmer). It's also really affordable.

For mama cloth, I just picked one that was visually appealing to me and bought a variety of pads to try. Some cotton sherpa, some minky. I've read that the minky resists staining really well and is super soft/comfy. I ordered them in a couple different sizes. Pampered Shop Pads is the shop on Etsy I used. AF isn't due for a couple weeks yet but thought I'd post my decision process! I plan to order more pads (I have 5 now) once I see which fabrics I like to use best.

Does the cup provide you plenty of leak protection or do you have to wear mama cloth or some sort of liner/pad too?

I use mama cloth liner as a backup. just incase of overspill. The first couple of days I have leakage. But I don't mind wearing a pad with them.

I'm just glad I found a cup because I'm a HEAVY HEAVY bleeder and soak through overnight pads in less then two hours without a cup!
