Any canadian mamas make your own laundry soap?

I was wondering if any canadian mamas make thier own laundry soap and what type or brand of bar soap do you use to make it?

I have been looking for the fells naptha and havent been able to find it here in ontario, I have seen the sunlight bar though.

also I was wondering if its suitable to wash diapers with it as well.

Thanks

I have and it's rubbish as far as I'm concerned. From what I gather from the 'net that Fels Naptha works wonders but the sunlight bar does not.

Try eBay mama...that's the only place I could find Fels Naptha...I"ve heard Kirk's Castile soap works well too.

I want to.....what else do you use in it? Is that Fels stuff available all over in the US? Or only as specialty stores? Thanks.

Fels Naptha is considered a laundry soap and the package says it's also good for bug bites I think. I've never seen it in a store so I couldn't say how available it is.

You could look for Zote soap too. That's what is in Simply Clean detergent.

I made some and it left my darks looking dingy, but I have heard since then about adding calgon water softner powder to it ( its available at walmart)(does something to the surface tension of the water allowing the soap to really be washed away). Now everything smelled like nothing afterward - except clean laundry so if you want scent I highly recommend using essential oils!!HTH
