WAHMs - question for you!

For those of you who run stores with mainstream products...

I'm thinking of starting up something but I do not sew or make my own diapers so I cannot do that. But I see that many of you run 'stores' out of your homes, so I'm looking for advice or tips!

How did you get started? How much approximately should I expect to invest in starting up? Is it difficult to buy wholesale or get permission to sell products?

My DH commented that I've become a CD expert and I've been thinking about going back to work, but wanting to stay home at the same time. So his comment got me thinking that I could do something like this!

Thanks!

ETA: any links to information about starting up a small business would be appreciated!

Re: WAHMs - question for you!

Well, I make my own things, so I can't answer many of your questions, but my local city website had a link to BizPal which asks a bunch of questions and tells you the permits you need. I think it's done by the Ontario government though.
