HELP WITH ANTBITES!

my dd has two really nasty bires that i assume are from fire ants. she had a couple a few days ago and they were just pink and slightly swollen and are fading away but today she has 2 that are HUGE, like quarter size and really red, not just pink. i usually don't give meds for anything that can just heal on its own but i've also never seen this happen. any advice?

Maybe she is allergic to the ant bites if that is what they are. You could try giving her some benadryl and see if that will help them shrink. Hope she feels better soon.

mix charcoal (the kind from a health food store) with some bacitracin to create a salve and put it on them and cover with a bandaid. The charcoal will draw the posion out. You can also give her some internally.

Ahh...fire ant bites. It really sounds normal. What happens is they bite you and then over the course of 24 hours, a pustule develops (almost like a water blister). Just leave it be and it should subside. If it's bothering her (causing her to itch and scratch), use some calmine lotion or hydrocortisone creme to help soothe it. It should go away within 2 weeks. If she were having an allergic reaction, it usually happens immediately or over the first few hours. The symptoms of this are difficulty breathing, light headedness and weakness.

After having lived in GA and NC... we're quite... uh.. .familiar.. .with those stinkin things. But yeah, just leave it alone. It'll go away. Just looks worse than it really is.
