I don't think you should even bother with cereals, try other foods that have iron instead.

Though many pediatricians will recommend starting vegetables before fruits, there is no evidence that your baby will develop a dislike for vegetables if fruit is given first. Babies are born with a preference for sweets, and the order of introducing foods does not change this. If your baby has been mostly breastfeeding, he may benefit from baby food made with meat, which contains more easily absorbed sources of iron and zinc that are needed by 4 to 6 months of age. Check with your child’s doctor. Also check out Kellymom.com and search for introducing solids the AAP website does say that solids can be started at 4 mths but I have seen lots of research studies on kelly mom that suggest skipping cereal and waiting until atleast 6 mths --I actuallly saw one that said waiting until atleast 6 mths reduced the chance of obesity later in life. |

Re: BLW Beginner
i was skeptical when i read that rice cereal actually DECREASES a baby's iron absorbtion but now i'm a believer. with my daughter, we did rice cereal and later found out she was anemic, but with my son we did blw and his iron levels were great. never had a bite of rice cereal!!!
