Minivan

We're planning on having another baby pretty soon. Right now I have 2 kids, do you think you really needed a minivan once you had 3 kids?

We are having the same debate in our home right now. The results? Not sure if you NEED a minivan but we tried to fit the two toddler seats AND an infant seat in the back of our current car and it was a no go. We have done a ton of car shopping and sadly there are just no great options for 3 kids in carseats other then a minivan wish we still made station wagons!

Re: Minivan

I'm driving a dodge neon (pretty small) so there is no way I can squish 3 seats into my current car. My oldest is starting Kindergarden next year and if he wants so bring a friend with us somewhere there is just now way we'd all fit, but I really don't want a minivan. We're a one car family..... but there just has to be some way around this.

If you find a way around it please let me know!! SUV or minivan look like the only options and the best gas mileage I could find was 27 for the Honda. Hybrids get more MPG but they are SO $$.

Re: Minivan

We had 3 in the back seat for about 6 mos. Then we bought a minivan. I get really sucky gas mileage so I don't drive around a lot. We love having a second car though. It is a great luxury for us. Between car payment $120, Monthly gas $65, increased insurance cost $80 each month it costs about $265 a month. My brother does all my maintenance so I only have to pay for parts.
There have been many times that I consider selling the minivan and going back to only one car. But I won't until I have too.
So with 3 if the car seats can fit in your car you don't need a minivan but it is nice to have.

Re: Minivan

When we first had 3 ages newborn, 1, and 3 we had a BMW station wagon. It was great. When we moved back to the states we got a minivan and that was actually great too...plenty of room for carseats and double stroller in the back. And it was so easy to load. We took out one of the middle captain seats so I could throw everyone in, jump in myself (especially on rainy days) and then get everyone clicked in.

I have 3 kids and daycare kids, but even without daycare kids I LOVE my van! I have so much space with it and I can seperate the kids when needed. I have plenty of room for groceries and a double stroller in the trunk space, plus the stow and go. Love my van!
