DIY flats for flips?

Hello all! Have any of you made your own DIY bamboo/terry flats and used them in flips?
I'm was getting ready to order a few flips and and red edge prefolds, and thought maybe the DIY flats would be more absorbent??

Baby boy is 7 months and very small, but he's soaking every thing! We've been using 4.0/5.0's stuffed with infants sized imagine prefolds. We definitely need to size up to something??

He's small though, 1-2% for height and 17% for weight, so everything is so bulky on him. Would flats be trimmer?? More absorbent?

Any help would be appreciated!!

Kelley

Re: DIY flats for flips?

Since he is so small, I would try flats for sure.

I have some of the Nature's Fabrics heavy bamboo stretch terry and it is a bit more absorbent than the regular stretchy terry.

Would it be good for heavy wetter?

Also, what size square would I cut? Or would I be better off buying cotton flats? I was thinking bamboo might be more absorbent..

Will they shift around in flips?

Bamboo is a little more absorbent. Buying Cotton flats would be much easier, of course. It just depends on which way you want to go. I would recommend looking at either Sweet Iris or Fruit of the Womb to see their sizes. Both of those have great sizes IMO.

Anything will shift around in a Flip, unless it fills out the cover.

Re: DIY flats for flips?

Thanks, I ordered Diaper Rite cotton flats instead. I really want a streamlined stash and I like that they get softer with time.

Now off to search for flips!!
