Re: To burp or not to burp? That is the question...
With my oldest boy I burped regularly for the first 3 months or so and then just stopped. I saw someone burping thier 6 month old or so and realized I had stopped months before. It never seemed an issue.
With my middle boy I HAD to burp him because he was a spitter upper. Big time! I'm not sure if it made a difference or not but I would try anything to keep him from puking on everything. It was so bad I remember 1 day while getting ready for work and daycare I changed his shirt 3 times in 3 minutes because he kept puking on it. On the 4th try I put a bib on him as soon as I had the shirt over his head. He puked but I only had to change the bib and not the shirt. With my youngest boy it seemed just switching breasts was enough to elicite a nice belch. I would only make a consious effort to burp him if he had had a bottle. We'll see what this next one brings.
