Re: How prepared are you?

Although may be variable, one gallon/per person/per day is what they usually say in emergency broadcasts.

Thanks for asking. We were just over a week with no hot water. I mentioned it at my daughters baton lesson and her teacher excitedly told me about shark bites! Within minutes of getting home from lessons I drug my hubby to home depot and we had hot water that night!! Very cool!

Re: How prepared are you?

We get our water from a well and we found out the hard way last winter that the pump does not work when the power is out. Thankfully it was only for the morning. We have a few cases of bottled water in our basement now and we stock up when it is on sale. Should probably have more stored for our family of 7 (soon to be 8). Thanks for the reminder!

Its this brand of plumbing fittings that fit over the pipe and make a water tight seal without having to use a blow torch.

My hubby makes me go with him every time. It gets a bit old. He has a type of social anxiety and hates doing stuff like that on his own. He'll send m to the auto parts store and everything. I don't know how he runs his store!!

That stinks!! My parents pump went out a few years back and it was a pain to replace. In the pumps defense, I don't ever remember it going out before and I'm in my 40s!!

Re: How prepared are you?

We have a few gallons of distilled water in the garage. Our ice dispenser is always full, so I suppose that could make some good drinking water. Also, we live super close to a lake and my husband got everything that we need to filter water in an emergency. I guess we would just use a stroller and a 5 gallon bucket to go a quarter mile down to the lake for water? Lol. That could be his job.

Re: How prepared are you?

We recently had to go 3 dasys without power. That was fun. The kids and I were fine. Dh was a mess. We still had hot water and could use the stove. Love the new lantern I got D's for easter!!
