Just Need Reminding...

I purchased an item a couple weeks ago that I realized was fake when I received it. Ebay removed the listing when I reported it, and the seller offered me a refund. They refunded, but it is an e-check refund that is not set to clear until December 10th. The seller emailed me this morning asking if I got my refund and if I would please close my case on ebay. I let them know that I don't have the refund yet, but received a notification from paypal letting me know that it *should* clear on the 10th. I got a message back saying "Ok, I hope that helps. Please remember to close the case on ebay."

It won't really help me until it clears, but whatever. Just wanted some clarification though. I know they want the case closed, but I should wait to close it until my refund clears, correct? Don't just close it because they sent it?

I would NOT refund until the check clears. It is just like a regular check - it can bounce. If you close the case w/Ebay you can't open it back up.

Got an email from eBay asking me to respond to the case. It says I should have received my refund by now, and if I haven't I need to immediately escalate my case to have eBay make a decision. My refund from the seller is still pending though, how do I handle this with eBay?

Escalate. Give them the details that you're still waiting on your refund and they'll prob have you wait a little longer. Seems a little fishy from this end....

Are you sure that it is a refund and not a payment in the form of an e-check? If it is a payment then I wouldn't accept it as a refund.
