Re: What, if any, additives do you add to your laundry routine?

I use Small amount of detergent (Frontloader) and add a few drops of TTO and fresh orange oil on a fleece scrap and throw it in the wash with the diapers.

For those of you who use tto, how much do you use, when do you add it, and how (on a towel, dropped straight in, etc...)? Thanks mamas! -Amber

I add half a downy ball of vinegar. It releases at the right time. Got this suggestion from the HH website!

When I used TTO, I put 4-5 drops in the fabric softener dispenser (we have never used liquid fabric softener for anything, so I feel comfortable runing stuff through there), then add about a quarter cup of water so that it actually drains out!

I guess you could say I add BacOut since I squirt poopy diapers with it before they go in the wet bag.No stains and no stink this way

I also have a few times used Odoban on diapers..tend to use it on FSOT diapers

I do a cold prewash and then a hot wash with 1 scoop of charlies and some tto (10-20 drops added to the washer water) and thenan extra rinse.

That said, I just bought from Purex f&c and will try that out today.

I always rinse off poopies before throwing it in the diaper pail . I have absolutely no stains on anything. I use the dry pail method. Did i forget to mention that I only wash once a week?

Here's my washing routine:
1st hot wash with FULL AMOUNT OF RECOMMENDED DETERGENT, 2 rinses
2nd hot wash with NO DETERGENT, 2 rinses
what kinds of dipes do you use? do your dipes smell of amonia really bad from washing only once a week?

I've been doing a cold rinse cycle w/bs and about 5 drops of tto, then wash w/2 tblspns of dawn rinse twice on hot and add som lavender eo to the last rinse. Sometimes I'll add vinegar to the rinse cycle of the first cold wash, but that's about every 4th time or so.

I use 1/8 capful of Sun detergent and about once a month I put vinegar in the Downy ball. The only time I have had issues was when I let my water softener run out of salt and the detergent wasn't rinsing out completely. Now I make sure that I keep it stocked, so the detergent doesn't irritate DS's skin.

I use baking soda in my wash for smells and brightness, and then vinegar in the rinse for fabric softner and to balance the pH.

I use a tiny bit of Tide plus a squirt of Dawn in the wash.

Re: What, if any, additives do you add to your laundry routine?

I never add anything to diaper wash unless I need to. I really dislike any type of laundry and I have always tried to keep it as easy as possible.
I recommend that everyone do the same thing. Only add something if you need it.

I just add 1/2 capful of Calgon water softener. It's made a huge difference and I Have to rinse fewer times. I'm a big believer in keeping it simple/no additives until you have problems
