Re: Please help DS penis is bleeding!

My DS had a similar problem earlier on (now 6+ months). I kept him in cloth (FBs), and usually used A&D ointment on him. He hasn't had any trouble in a while, though. I think the earlier trouble may have been related to using wipes and not drying him off afterwards, or maybe not changing him often enough -- possibly build-up in the diapers. In any case, it turned out not to be a big deal. Usually one or two uses of A&D will clear it up for us -- but we don't change as often as you do.

I think lanolin has amazing healing capabilities. It's pretty much the only thing we've used on diaper rash or any owies on the bottom. I apply a very liberal amount on the bum and let it air out or CD.
Also, I don't know if i'd use tea tree oil in the bath, it's such strong stuff, i've had skin reactions to it and it burns a little. Good luck!

Re: Please help DS penis is bleeding!

Thank you so much! I know nothing about penises. DS1's penis never did anything weird like this!

We did the bath with the TTO, and dried out for 1.5 hours. Then bag balm and sposies and went to bed (DH will not let me use cloth till its healed ). Then this morning we did another hour of diaper free time until he peed on DS1's pillow and DS1 freaked out and wanted to pee on a pillow too. So we put a diaper on him but I'm going to make him diaperless again during nap (ds1s).

I think its because I didn't lift it up to air it out, or clean it at every change. I usually only did at poopies because I never thought about it, it wasn't ever a problem with Rune. My poor babe. He's also getting in FOUR teeth! All his canines.

It looks better this morning, but not like I want it to look.
Thank you so much for the advice.

Re: Please help DS penis is bleeding!

It has been a while since we used sposies but when we did, I remember that they retained more heat and moisture. Cloth allows the babies bottoms to breathe. If you want moisture to stay off his bottom, put a fleece liner on the dipe. You can also put diaper cream on him and use the fleece liner and it will protect the diaper.

I don't know what the problem is either but I do know that if you can't do naked time, then his bottom needs to breathe somehow and a sposie won't do that as well in the summertime. At least it never did for me.

If I read your post correctly, it sounds like it happened while using sposies, so what can it hurt to use cloth and see if it goes away.

I hope you figure out the problem soon.
to you and your LO.
