Re: "My kids bore me to death..."

this article is just so sad - we are all called to sacrifice things - true love is being selfless not selfish. I think the sadest part about this article is that she uses her name - her poor children can now read about just how boring they are - I wonder how you can damage your child's self-esteem faster? I'm going to pray for her. Motherhood is such a beautiful gift and joy - I love spending time with my dd and Pirates of the Carribean is not a kids movie - and how can you think about what shoes match your outfit instead of listen to what your children have to say - this article is absolutely crazy! I can't even put all my thoughts into words aboue it.

Before i read the article I was afraid I was going to agree with the writer and get flamed. I personally do NOT enjoy playing barbies, or playing outside...I would rather sleep...BUT there are many many other things I find to do with my children that we both enjoy to replace the things that I can't stand. There is nothing wrong with not enjoying certain things about raising your children....

What does that woman enjoy about her children???/ I didn't find one single postive statement in the entire article. What a sad way to look at parenthood. As far as I can conclude, she does NOT love her children, and does NOT enjoy being a parent and IS compeltly selfish and childish. What a waste of a mother. And then to insult everyone one of us that does choose to Stay home with our children...and enjoy it most of the time. SHe needs smacked!

Re: "My kids bore me to death..."

I think this is a problem of entitlement. When you don't have to work hard to get something, you don't appreciate it. I think she has never "plugged" in to her mothering role.... she's had a nanny and probably wasn't ever forced to do anything she didn't want to do. So how can she feel the joys and excitements of her children and their achievements when she never made the personal sacrifices and investments in them? She has deprived herself of being able to feel anything other than "boredom" with her children. Will she still maintain this sentiment if, heaven forbid, something terrible happens to her boring kids?

Re: "My kids bore me to death..."

I too thought I was going to agree with the article, but she is too extreme!

I will admit that I dreaded being home with my daughter this summer at the close of the school year. I am not SAHM material, but I have never once though that it was menial or boring. Now that it is almost time for me to return to work, I almost wish I could do both. There are parts that I really enjoyed, and then of course there were parts that I didn't. But in no way was it boring, tiring some days, yes, but definitely not boring. This kid is too funny! I can just sit and watch her play by herself or *read* a book and it puts the biggest smile on my face.

While all my girlfriends were dropping important careers and occupying their afternoons with cake baking, I was begging the nanny to stay on, at least until she had read my two a bedtime story. What kind of mother hates reading bedtime stories? A bad mother, that's who, and a mother who is bored rigid by her children.

This is one of my favorite things! Just watching the wonder on her face or the excitment when she finally understands a word and picture that go together. This woman is just not at all in touch with her kids.

It's okay to admit that you don't enjoy certain activities or can't be at every single activity that they are involved in, but not going to any of their sports matches??? That's just selfish.
