Can I use Dawn with HE FL? Any "natural" HE detergents?

I am sick of dealing with washing struggles, and while I'm not willing to give in and use Tide, I am willing to use something synthetic if it doesn't have optical brighteners in it. So I was thinking maybe Dawn...

I looked at Dawn last night and didn't know which kind to buy. There is the regular blue kind, and then a oxygen bleach boosted kind, which is clear. The regular one does not have enzymes, the other one does. Which one do you use?

Can I use Dawn with my HE Maytag Neptune FL?

And then, are there any natural HE detergents I could use with my FL? Charlies does not clean well enough and has too many suds. Ditto with Allens powder. Advise? Thanks mamas!!

i will let you know in a few days, but I am really thinking that I love my country safe. I have a front loader Maytag Epic with soft water and Allens didn't get my diapers clean enough without having to rinse a million times. Other store detergents would give dd a rash because of the enzymes. COuntry save seems to be cleaning and rinsing really well. I have been using it for a few days and like it, but I wnated to give it a little longer. I can tell you though it rinses so much easier than Allens!

Also wanted to add that it is my understanding you should not use Dawn regularly in a FL. It suds too much.

I use Dawn in my FL maybe once a week.. I literally use a drop.. the size of a dime.. I use Arm and Hammer Essentials all other times (Unscented, no phosphates, no dyes, no perfumes, biodegradable).. However I have started opting to was my pockets and fitteds seperate from my inserts/pf's and have found I like my new system much better. I soak my inserts and pf's while the pockets are washing, then do a second wash with the other items..

You can find some great detergent information here:

Good luck!

I looked at pinstripes and polkadots, and I found two natural detergents that may work, country save and oxy-prime. If you had to recommend one or the other, would you recommend oxy-prime or country save? Thanks!

Never used oxyprime....Right now with my super soft water (water softener), I am doing

delicate cycle on cold to rinse
Sanitize cycle or heavy duty with 1 TBSP Country Save
DElicate Cycle on warm/warm to Rinse

I use every type of dipe and put them all together. I have pockets with fleece, microfiber, hemp, velour, fitteds, BG AIOs. Everything you can imagine.

I am washing about 12 diapers, with extra doublers (about 6 or so) in a load. I find that with my very soft water, if I put to much in, they don't get rinsed well enough. Hope this helps.

I'm wondering what would be the difference in chemical harshness between Tide and Dawn? Just curious.

I use 1 tablespoon of country save with my front loader and have not had a problem.

I have an LG Tromm Steamwash, I wash inserts, pockets, fitted, prefolds, and covers all together. This is my routine:

1. Speed wash on Cold/cold with no detergent.
2. Cotton/Normal wash, 1 tblsp. country save in the prewash dispenser, hot/cold, spin speed extra high, soil level extra high and prewash, stain cycle, extra rinse, water plus all selected.
3. Speed wash again with no detergent.
4. Hang pockets and covers to dry and dry the rest in the dryer.

I know it sounds like a lot but it still uses less water than a top loader and my diapers come out smelling like nothing (which is a good thing with diapers). I used to use vinegar but quit because it was making my diaper smell weird, not stinky, just weird.
