My Mood:
Help!! Vomit on cross stitch!

My grandma made my boys nice cross stitch tooth fairy pillows. And of course one got vomitted on today. I tried scrubbing but realized it was stressing the thread. I rinsed it with cold water as soon as it happened, but there is still an orange tint on the canvas. It was either ketchup based or fruit punch based. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Help!! Vomit on cross stitch!

If you do Oxiclean do the whole pillow. I learned the hard way it can affect the color sometimes. Better to have the colors evenly affected rather than having a different spot on it.

Re: Help!! Vomit on cross stitch!

My mother is a professional seamstress and does hand sewing and she always uses color-safe Woolite and/or Ivory laundry detergent to wash all of her hand made items. You can also try Oxiclean.

Oxiclean...try mixing the Oxiclean with warm water, then filling with plenty of cold water so the water is not warm. Soak item for at least an hour. Can even do overnight as well.

Re: Help!! Vomit on cross stitch!

I use denture cleaner for stubborn food stains. Toss several tablets into a basin of warm water and soak the offending item. Works maybe 75% of the time.
