Opening an Etsy Shop

So, I've been on DS and FB for a while now, selling my upcycled creations, I've done enough testing and feel like I've got a product that I can put out there.

I'm working on getting things together for a big stocking as a grand opening event.

I'm going to have one pair of pants that is a give-away that I know of for sure. I'd also like to do some "almost FFS" type listings, just to get some guaranteed sales.

Are there any tips/tricks/advice that I should know before making the page active?

I know some here have put things in at full price but offered a big discount code for DS members for a bit to get things going.

Re: Opening an Etsy Shop

Have you opened up shop yet? I'm starting to read up on etsy, and trying to get some in-stock sets stockpiled to do the same.

One thing I read recently though, was that lower prices may not necessarily be your friend. I guess people don't always see, lower price = great deal. Sometimes they see lower price = lower quality? Etsy recommends keeping your price up there, but creating enough of a backstory/experience/service/quality to make it worth it.

Hope it goes well for you, be sure to post back when you're up & running!

Good advice, I wonder if that may be my problem. I figured being new Id price a little lower but business has been so so and its common stuff so that is also tough, bibs, burp cloths, lip balm, etc etc. Not sure what to do as my stuff is quality but I also want to clear out what I have...

It's better to have your prices higher and then you offer coupons. Customers seem to really love it when you offer free shipping coupons, even if it's only 2$. Whenever I do a free shipping event I get a lot of sales. With etsy it's also good to send a customer (for ex.) 10% off thank you coupon for their next purchase. you can configure it so that everytime someone makes a purchase etsy automatically emails them that coupon.

That's a great idea to keep repeating customers! I haven't started a shop yet, but am planning on selling soaps in the near future. Are coupon codes easy to set up on Etsy?

Your products are cute and look nice Mama!
Have you had good sales yet?

I second the notion of adding coupon codes in to any orders. When I receive a coupon for a future order I am way more likely to buy something from them again (like I received an order, two gifts, from AirPlantShop and they send a 20% off coupon and I immediately started stalking out what item I might order for myself )

Yes! Coupon codes are easy to set up. I have the 10% off for a thank you. Yes doing a DS is a great idea too. I agree with the pricing as we'll. I compare similar shops. Good luck! I started on September and am enjoying it but wish I was selling more
