Re: For Those Who Use Prefolds...

^ I feel exactly the same as the other 2 mamas. Gmd's sell quickly too, when you are done with them.

Re: For Those Who Use Prefolds...

We used osocozy smart fit at first. I was new to cd and they were so simple with a cover. I didn't have to do anything but trifold and go. We loved them!!

Re: For Those Who Use Prefolds...

i really like prefolds because i have used them with every type of system out there (almost). my advice is to buy every other size, because i just folded down the excess until he grew into them, and that provided enough extra absorbency i never had many leak problems (my regular infant sized blue edged prefolds lasted 2 weeks-1 year) i also like that i can stuff them in my flips (make sure you have the right size prefolds) and i fold down in front for those too. i use them snappied in flips too but it can get tiring to have to do it ALL the time, its nice to have the option of trifolding. i also use prefolds with whisper pants some times. they also fold well and trim in my pockets and have more absorbency, and wash-ability than the inserts that came with them. they take some time to air dry and can be scratchy but a well pointed fan and a couple rough shakes and they arnt to bad. i will admit my dryer has thinned them a bit but i bought them used. if your dye hard about prefolds i would get them new. i dont have any brands to recommend because mine are all from the retired section at my cd store that gets them from a service. imo the unbleached ones feel softer and more absorbent but not by much. to boot they are great to clean with if you dont resell them. they are also good to use coverless (if baby isnt a flooder) to help air out the bum but contain messes.

I LOVE my prefolds!!! I bought them used and am now using them on my third baby. Bummis are my favourite (I'm not sure what other brand I have), but like a previous poster mentioned, my dryer is starting to eat them. Because of this, I've been using one large prefold and using a newborn prefolds as a doubler for my heavy wetting 18 month old.

I am glad I started out with prefolds. Much more economically and you can use them for many uses when done with them. I have used newborn Osocozy BetterFit unbleached cotton (purple stitch) since my little one was born. He is now 3 months and about 13lbs and is growing out of this size. But I have really liked them although I nothing to compare them to. I used Newborn PUL covers but plan on switching to wool going forward.
