Someone Please tell me this is going to get better!! UPDATE POST 17!

I'm sooooo lost. With my DD I never had to deal with this. She came home and was sleeping straight through the night. She would never dry EVER! Now with DS, it's a whole different story. I don't know what to do anymore. I get 3 hours of sleep every night IF I'm lucky. He cries all night. Whether he's nursing or not. I can't figure out what to do anymore. In the beginning he was so good. He would wake once at 4am to eat and go right to sleep afterwards. Now he's up allllll night. There's nothing ever wrong with him that I can tell. He's fed, changed, not hot, not cold. I give him tylenol in case something is hurting him but nothing! He's fine during the day. He's happy all day it just as soon as bedtime comes around he's completely uncontrollable. He's 6 1/2 months old. When is this going to end? What else can I do? I've tried everything!

how long has this been going on? is he teething? growth spurt perhaps? any changes in bedtime routine.... switch to crib from co-sleeping or anything like that? Also maybe since he's getting older and more active/aware he thinks he's "missing" something and maybe doesn't want to sleep?

He's just started acted this way for about 2 months now. Nothing has changed. He nurses all the time, he sleeps with us all the time. I don't know what's wrong. It's not like he sleeps all day and just wants to be up all night. I mean he takes a few cat naps here and there but nothing to make him cry and be awake all night.

My ds was exactly the same way! By process of elimination, we figured out that it was the milk in my diet that was affecting him! I had to cut out ALL milk...ALL!! I mean, I can't even have 3 goldfish crackers...ALL milk, and now he's fine!
I don't know if it might be that for you? I know you can develop allergies. *shrugs* Maybe it's something in your diet. If not milk, maybe wheat? Eggs?

Oh Michelle, I am so soryy. I know that this has been an ongoing struggle for you.

Does he seem to have teeth coming?
Has he ever slept in his own crib? My DD sleeps much better on her own. Some kids are just liks that.
DD slept irradically on and off until 13 months thenshe finally STTN for the first time. I noticed that with teeth and new milestone she woke up much more often.

It will end. I just pray you can get some naps in the meantime to save your sanity. Is there anyone who can hang out with the kids in the day so you can get a few extra nap one or two days? DH takes DD on Sunday and Monday mornings and I pop my earplugs in and sleep like the dead! It is a lifesaver! Danni

Re: Someone Please tell me this is going to get better!!

Thanks Mamas,

I just don't know what to do anymore. I just don't get it. I'm going to try to let him sleep in the crib today and see how that works. People tell me that because he's not getting enough and that I should give hima bottle or start him on solids but I'm not convinced. I'm definitely not going to wean him. I just don't know what else to do. It's hard to stay awake during the day when I also have a toddler to care for. I'm so tired and sleep deprived that I can't function anymore.

Do you vaccinate? Does he have an ear infection? Allergies?

Have you tried a chriopractor?

Do you turn on lights when you get up with him? I promise this too will pass and you will be up all night while he is out on a date before you know it. So give him lots of hugs.

We don't vax, I don't think he has an ear infection, that would be a long ear infection. He's never gotten sick on me. I haven't tried a chiropractor. What would that do? When I get up with him I never turn the lights on. Everything is always dark.

Michelle. This sounds exactly what happened with my first ds. He turned into as we called him Demon Baby around 4-5ish months - cried, yelled and refused to sleep. One of my mom friends recommened the book Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child and with a few adjustments that book has been so helpful for our family! If you're interested I can share more info - I'll just say it is not all CIO! - just shoot me a pm. I think HSHC would help you. I really do.
