Rent a yurt first to make sure it will work for your family. There is one at a cabin/camping resort in north texas and their may be others, too. Try it for a weekend or part of a week before you commit to a big lifetstyle change.

Re: Yurt

I dream of living in a yurt one day! This crazy weather we get these days scares me though. I'd try renting like other person said, especially during bad weather to see how noisy it gets.

I wish I lived somewhere that I could rent a yurt, I'd be so happy. Around here, cps would be all over you about it

I think if you think you could do it, why not? We are going to hopefully do a tiny home in the future. We're going to downsize our life and our apartment here shortly, to save money to put towards going tiny. It would/will be roughly 350-ish square foot home on wheels boasting two large lofts. We fell in love with the idea and we're going to do it, despite what others think.
