My pedi always tells us to use bug repellant WITH deet. Since the bugs that the deet repels are more harmful, it is more important to repel those! So, we use OFF Family or something like that... it used to be skintastic I think.

i was gonna say this too-- the deet is what keeps away the mosquitos with west nile and stuff..

so if i was going camping, i'd use something with deet

but i recently bougth an all natural one with cintronella oil.. its Quantum Buzz Away.

I always thought that DEET was harmful, since all the natural bug repellants advertise "DEET free." In any case, I bought the Buzz Away, too, from my natural foods store last weekend. I let you know how well it works when we go to the mountains this weekend.

I just bought a natural one with cintronella and a whack of other natural ingredients. I don't have the bottle (it got left in my friends bag) but I can get the rest of the ingredients if you want. pm me if you are interested. it's something you could possibly make yourself (I bought it from a wahm).

We don't use DEET.

We've had success with the California Baby bug repellent, and MIL bought us some from Dr. Mercola's website recently too (not sure what it's called).

Burt's Bees makes a great natural lemon one, too!
