Looking for tutorial to make a toy that is switches and buttons
At some point (I was heavily pregnant and in a fog of crazy) I saw either a tutorial or photos of a board someone made that's a toy with switches and buttons and lights and such for their toddler who loved to play with that type of stuff. It was mounted on their wall.
My nephew is huge on this now and I want to send this over. Does anyone know what I am talking about or has anyone made one? Advertisement

Re: Looking for tutorial to make a toy that is switches and buttons
We did one with a working light switch and a variety of different fixtures...handles, latches, wheels, etc. but we didnt use a specific tutorial....just gathered things and made our own.

Did you wire it yourself or use an already working electronic piece and then add it on?
do you have a photo you could share? Thanks ![]()

I think I know what you're talking about. If you go to TAG Toys they make a board like that. I don't think it has any electrical hookup but it has all kinds of latches and knobs. It's very expensive to buy so I just took a screen capture of it and want my DH to make one for Christmas. If you go to their web site you'll see it.

Re: Looking for tutorial to make a toy that is switches and buttons
You could make/take a box and put on a bunch of latches and find a light that is battery operated and fix it to a light switch. You could also buy a cheap key lock and install that. We thought about doing this but didn't want to teach our son those fun skills like opening our door locks though he has mostly figured it out and understands. Melissa and Doug makes one with latches that is cute: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/re.../dp/B000NVBE1A

My sister has that one for my nephew and he's super into it, but also really loves to walk around the house and turn off and on the lights and press buttons everywhere. The thought is that if they have something where they can tell him, these are your buttons and switches, and mount it on a wall, then he will go there. It's a hope ![]() And PP, it's not multiquoting but I will check out that TAG toy, thanks!

It was kinda like this, but wasn't this one
http://geekdad.hotwired.com/profiles...at-club-jameco I think my sister's contractor may make one for her. If he does I will have her take a photo. She and her husband are not handy like that ![]()
