Storing Turnips

Anyone have any experience storing turnips? How about freezing?

I have a box full and you'd better believe I don't want to waste not a one.

I might be wrong but I was thinking they were similar to carrots. If you have the option they do well stored in sand in a cool area.

I think Jen is right. Store in a cool, dark place. I don't think they freeze well unless you cook them first. I've rarely had success feeding my family turnips - how does your family eat them?

Sliced with salt. Smaller ones are better IMO.

Re: Storing Turnips

I did a triple mash with turnips, potatoes and sweet potatoes and they liked that.

Yesterday I made them roasted with parmesan cheese and oil and other herbs. I almost ate half a pan by myself.

Next I'm trying a recipe with brown sugar I just saw.

My long term plan is just to throw one in whenever I'm using another root veggie. My dh and I like them so I figure of my kids won't eat them I will.
