Anyone use detergent in the prewash?

I am back to Tide after stinky diapers with Ecos. I was having to add bleach every time just to get minimal results.

First regular diaper wash with Tide, and the diapers still were stinky! Ugh. So this round I added a little Tide to my prewash, a lot of Tide to my regular wash and did a second rinse. They are in the dryer now, but so far, so good.

Yes! A tsp to the prewash just to listen things up. And the key for me was to use warm all the way around. I do a sanitize cycle once a month, but I use bleach with most washes if it is just natural fibers.

I don't do a pre-wash. My routine is pretty straight-forward: hot wash with powdered Tide to the -1- line and a splash of bleach, cold rinse, then an additional cold rinse. Easy-peasy. No stains, no stink, no rashes.

If you're switching from a detergent that made your diaps nasty with build-up(which is what stink is- remnants of poop and ammonia crystals left in the fibers within the diapers) then yeah, you probably need some hefty stripping and soaking to clean those puppies out.
