Any experience with Hautes Seconds?

Okay I know I know, Ive gone on and on about how much I hate these dipes. But I found some seconds online, for only $7.50 each. They are so cute, Im actually distraught that I dont like Hautes, I was counting on buying up a ton of them to complete my OS stash, and now Im still searching for OS dipes with snaps.

So, I was thinking maybe Id buy a few, maybe 4, and use them only for around the house, really dry them on high for a week straight until that PUL melds and really seals. So cheap...for that price I may have room in my stash for a wicking dipe.

But Ive never bought a second, and I read good and bad reports. I mean, supposedly *most* of the seconds have uneven wings and/or stiching. I can deal with that. But I fear that they will come all frankensteiny and be totally useless.

Re: Any experience with Hautes Seconds?

As far as I know the seconds are the "original" Hautes. I think they changed the PUL on the new ones, not the old style. Right? So these are most likely made of the non-breathable PUL. Probably no reason to worry about leaking. The new ones are made of breathable PUL, which just means it has tiny holes poked throughout it. Many reliable products use the breathable PUL, such as bummis and Imse Vimse.

I bought some seconds and they work great for me. Don't have any experience with non-seconds but I would buy these again.

The ones you're referring to are the *old* style. The *new* style has the breathable PUL. I have 1 of the *new* style... never had a problem. And have 3 of the *old* style seconds. I honestly don't see a difference, except the new one is aplix and the old style is snaps. *shrugs*

FWIW, I like the way they fit my DD and don't see any visible reason why they were marked "seconds."

A few other changes...

I believe that the new style has a narrower trimmer cut as well. And then the new style has a different fleece. Also, on the aplix ones..the tabs are cut smaller than the front loop. On the snaps, the old style have rounded wings and the new style snaps do not. HTH. I'd say the 7.50 seems like a great deal! Why not?

Re: Any experience with Hautes Seconds?

I have 4 of the seconds and can't find anything wrong with them at all. I highly recommend them - especially for the price!

Re: Any experience with Hautes Seconds?

I have 10 seconds. And they were marked seconds due to small detail imperfections. Like the snaps are not straight or a seam was not sewed straight, stuff like that. They all work great. I paid 7.50 direct from the manufacturer for seconds, so if these are used I would be curious. And they did not come with inserts. We bought the second quality wonderful-inserts from Mtdiaperstore too.

Re: Any experience with Hautes Seconds?

I just picked one up.. It's my only HP, but it looks like a great diaper and we enjoyed using it the one time it's been used so far -- nothing crazy about it in form or function. :-) Hope this puts your mind at ease.

Re: Any experience with Hautes Seconds?

I would just like to add that the double insert was completely sopping wet and no wicking to the outside...and amazingly trim for 2 MF inserts snapped together. I have 2 seconds and like them as of this moment (the only thing I don't like about any OS dipe is that the rise snaps roll into my dds legs...doesn't seem to bother her but it bugs me a little).
